Northup's book, Twelve Years a Slave, as well as exhibits and folk art are a few things Epps House offers anyone wanting to get a peek into Northup's life. Slayter House, also called "Maison Bonne Vive," is located on the corner of Horseshoe Drive and Prescott Road and is a stunning location to host big events such as weddings, receptions, or fancy balls. Ranging from colonial archives and French and Spanish records for the Louisiana territory to thousands of historic photographs from around Alexandria and the acclaimed Newcomb Collection (close to 700 unique photos from the 1860s to the 1960s), the Louisiana History Museum holds one of the most exquisite collections of historical artifacts in the state!
