Visitors to New Orleans often comment about our many trees and how much green space there is here. For a medium size city in terms of square miles it does have a large percentage of green spaces in the form of parks large and small. The two largest parks, Audubon Park (in the Uptown area) and City Park (In the Mid-City/Lakefront area) are home to the Audubon Zoo and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Combined with the Mississippi River, Lake Pontchartrain, and many other lakes and bayous, the area offers many recreational opportunities, such as river cruises, boating and fishing, as well as providing a cooling respite from the summer's heat.
