If you're anything like me, you like to be competitive and also integrate into the city you live in. Recently, I've joined an over 30 intramural team. It gives you that extra enthusiasm to work out and stay healthy, rather than running mindless on a treadmill. This is a strong recommendation for those looking to get more established in their community, or just wanting to change it up.

    Mammoth Espresso
    When strolling through downtown, Mammoth Espresso is the coffee shop for you. I always order a cappuccino, but they have a large variety of coffee options. Also, they have yummy pastries for a quick grab and go. I love the high ceiling of this place, the plants, and all the natural light...perfect set up for studying or working!

    Growing up I've been spoiled with having some A+ Sushi restaurants down the street. Haiku has been the first place that really stood above the rest in the city. The service is always friendly, and THEIR TUNA IS GREAT. I'm a tuna-over-all-other-fish type guy and they've got the stuff. For those not into sushi, their Ramen options are always great for those days when it's cold or you just need to get warmed up. The Crouching Dragon is the bomb.com

    Best Recipes in the State!
    I've been frequenting this area for years but never got a chance to stop by Urban South. Upon my first visit, I realized I've been missing out. Urban South has some of the best recipes and is widely produced throughout the south. If you find yourself nearby during business hours, I'd highly recommend stopping in. Their sours are some of the best in the business. The food truck outside also never disappoints.

    We've been regulars at Port Orleans since the beginning of the year! Every Thursday we've shown up and enjoyed the locally brewed beers and the southern hospitality. If you find yourself on Tchoupitoulas Street and craving some local favorites, we definitely would recommend.

    El Pavo Real is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. I've never ordered something there that I didn't really enjoy. When you get there, they bring you complimentary Mexican style popcorn, which is out of this world.

    This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the city. The sushi is so fresh, the tuna and tuna roll is killer! The restaurant is clean and the staff is great too. All around its a great spot. It's kind of inconvenient to get to for me, but it's worth it.

    Head to Crescent Park, a hidden oasis that not a lot of locals or tourists know about. Once you cross the bridge over the train tracks, by foot, you'll enter a hidden park on the river. Crescent Park has a bike and walking trail, flowers, and a spectacular view of the the Mississippi River. You won't want to miss out on this view!

    NOLA Paddleboards offers paddling in Bayou St John and is great for beginners as well as those who are experienced. The instructor supplies everything you need and each session lasts over an hour, which is plenty of time to get the hang of it!     This weekend is the second weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Need I say more? I think not, as it is probably on everyone's bucket list. Our Jazz Fest attracts visitors from around the globe, young, and young at heart. We have major talent performing all weekend. National artists and local celebrities as well. The festival is packed with some of the most delicious local New Orleans food, artists of all kinds including crafts, art, mystical readings, and lots of fun things to do. The best part. The forecast calls for little or no rain! Want to blend in and enjoy it like a local? Don a hat, and open up your chair, that's it.     There will be tall ships heading into the French Quarter at Woldenberg Riverfront Park to help celebrate New Orleans 300th Birthday. The ships will be offering tours.. Ahoy!

    You can grab the Prince tribute show at the Orpheum, (that is where I will be for sure). This is going to be an amazing show with The Louisiana Philharmonic, a light show, and a rock band!

  • Magazine Street makes it easy to be in some kind of party because of the myriad number of stores, bars, restaurants, coffee shops and art galleries. Art galleries are the gems of Magazine Street, displaying the true nature of New Orleans heart. Although Magazine Street is a few miles long, you can easily move from distant blocks with transportation and then walk for few blocks to access and admire what that particular block(s) has to offer.

    Lately I was able to enjoy one of the best art shows at the DDM Gallery on 3426 Magazine Street, where artist like Marianna Canu and a few more others are on display. Take the time to be a part of one of the most vibrant streets in the beautiful city of New Orleans. Also, there are some available properties for sale in the area.     Magazine Street is one of the more popular areas in the city to shop and people-watch! Explore six miles of art galleries, shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants and cafes. Magazine Street stretches from the Downtown/Central Business District all the way uptown to Audubon Park.

    Many different architectural styles can be found along this street including: Victorian cottages and shotguns with gingerbread millwork, as well as Greek Revival with columns. It was named for a "magazin", a warehouse built in the 1700's where products were stored before exporting.

    Ride the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, hop off anywhere between Jackson Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, and stroll around this picturesque neighborhood known for its larger scale magnificent homes with their lush gardens. Built in the late 1800's, largely for Americans who became wealthy from the sugar, cotton and shipping industries, these mansions were made in the more elaborate Italianate, Greek Revival, and Victorian style.
