    Every year, well for a long time now, the homecoming of JHS and Howdy neighbor is held on the same weekend. Our town of Jena goes all out on decorations and entertainment. Friday will start the parade followed by our JHS football game. On Saturday the Jena Park will be full of people visiting, crafts, food and great entertainment. The Colonial Trails Committee helps get all of the vendors and music for the day lined up. You will find our locals with great food cooking all day long. It is a great place to see school mates you haven't seen in years, or maybe even in five years. This is a great event that you want to be a part of. Drive slow thru Jena and take note of the American flags, pumpkin decor and cute shops. Jena is a great place to call home!!

    November 2, 2018 the Jena Homecoming Parade will be held following the pep rally, football game, and class reunions. Then Saturday will be Howdy Neighbor Day with T.G. Sheppard closing out the night!

    The LaSalle Parish Library was founded in 1952. It has since been a place of education as well as recreational activities. The beautiful new building is located just across from the old one on First Street in Jena. There are books available on every interest and topic, and the computers are great for research use or for simply browsing. Also in the building, you will find a room that is for rent. It is perfect for wedding showers, baby showers, church ladies to gather, and many other options. If you have not been inside, take the time to run by and look at the building that stands in Jena. We are very fortunate to have this building in our parish. There is also an Olla location and a bookmobile. With Summertime just around the corner, watch out for the dates of recreational activities and special days for children at the library.

    Miss B's is the place to be at lunchtime! You can enjoy your favorite salad or hot vegetables with great meat. When you have finished your meal, you will want to shop around the gift shop. The atmosphere is so comfortable and very laid back. Be sure to check out the windows, they are always so cute! If you are looking for a Thursday afternoon date or want to order takeout, you can get a great steak from the menu!

Jeanette Richards is the owner and has a style that fits the generation of my time. You will love the atmosphere of her shop and the welcome you will receive when you enter the door. Jeneatte has a host of ladies who work, model, or do whatever to help her out. She is willing to ship or deliver. Hopefully, she will be back in full swing soon with the doors open.     Mac's Big Star in Jena is owned and managed by Craig and Jessica McDougald. They, along with wonderful employees have been such a wonderful asset to our community for years. But, during this quarantine of COVID-19, they have gone over and above to help us all stay six foot apart. You call in your order and they call you when it is ready for pickup.     Sunday in the Park will start at 10:00 am on May 28,2017. Midway Baptist Church is hosting this event. There will be preaching, singing and worship to our Lord and Savior. A lunch free of charge will be served after worship service. All are welcome to this event in Jena City Park!

    Located off of 127S in Jena, you'll find a big, old barn where Lori "YogaLo" Francis started "Y'all Be Well" yoga around eight years ago. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, sweat yourself healthy with Vinyasa yoga classes led by Lori who is a registered nurse, respiratory therapist, homeschool teacher, and tons more! Lori is determined through "Y'all Be Well" to bring out the best you you can be, mentally and physically. You may not see results immediately, but you will definitely feel them!

    Jena's town park is a wonderfully shaded 30 acre park with plenty of play equipment for children of all ages. Not only does the Jena Town Park have a playground, but also offers tennis courts, walking/nature trails, skating rink, amphitheater, ball fields, and a splash pad! With so many different activities, you'll always have a great time at Jena's town park.

    Howdy Neighbor Day has been a big part of Homecoming at Jena High School for many years. There's a parade and football game on Friday with Howdy Neighbor Day on Saturday at the town park. The day always ends with a concert (featuring a guest appearance) and a firecracker show! So don't forget your lawn chairs and come on out to the friendly town of Jena to join in on the Howdy Neighbor fun!
