It's Mardi Gras Time
Love living in downtown Shreveport. Walk to the two largest Krewes parades on consecutive Saturdays on February 18th, and February 25th. The Krewes of Centaur and Gemini, respectively, will start on the corner of Lake Street and Clyde Fant Parkway and end on the corner of East Kings Highway and East Preston Street. Anticipate massive floats and catapulting beads. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Shreveport Will Get Its First Aquarium
Barnwell Memorial Garden and Art Center on Clyde Fant Parkway, which closed its doors in 2012, will be the new home of The Shreveport Aquarium. Planners are anticipating an opening as early as the summer of 2017. The exhibit will have more than 3,000 animals. Visitors will view everything from snails to sharks.There will be 270+ species of fish and invertebrates amid colorful coral reefs, tropical lagoons and a dark ocean cave. Admission will be $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and children between age 3 and 12.

Shreveport Farmers' Market Features Howlin Henry Robinson
If you regularly ready my Agent Insights, you know I'm a fan of the Farmers's Markets, both in Shreveport and across the River on the Bossier City side as well. Tomorrow morning, I'm headed to Festival Plaza on the Shreveport side to shop for really fresh produce for tomorrow's dinner. This Saturday comes with a special treat. Playing old school music on his harmonica will be Howlin Henry Robinson.

Remember, there will also be bakery items and cooking on the spot, so plan to do breakfast/lunch. Parking is free at city meters and plenty of additional parking at Sci Port Discovery center along Clyde Fant Parkway. If you should see me, please pull my coat tail and say hi. Have a super weekend!

TGIF! Remember, in Shreveport and Bossier City, we enjoy working hard and playing hard, especially during our weekends. With that said, if you have yet to plan out this evening or if you want to do something a bit different, consider joining us at the Star Party at our Sci Port Discovery Center.

It kicks off at 8 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. There will a Starry Night Presentation in the Dome (always such a peaceful and beautiful experience), after which the event will move to the rooftop. Through telescopes we'll star gaze. The featured most prominent planet will be Saturn.

Independence Day Celebration
If you're looking for something to do July 4th after the grilling and feasting are over, I'd recommend heading to Downtown Shreveport. The annual fireworks show is always spectacular, and kicks off at 9:45 pm on the Riverfront. Prior to the show, there's lots of live entertainment planned. Festival Plaza is the "place to be" starting at 4:00 pm with performances by Michael Love followed by Windstorm, one of this area's favorite old-school R&B bands, at 5:00 pm. Coming up after Windstorm will be Willie Jones and Dilan Scott, respectively. After the fireworks, Colt Ford goes on stage at 10:15 pm. Hope this helps with planning your late afternoon/evening celebration. Have lots of fun and please be safe.

Red River Revel
The Red River Revel has something for everyone! It's a great Arts festival that runs from October 5th through October 12th. The Revel offers fantastic art as well as a children's area with art projects. The music consist of all genres. The food is great as well. Offered by local fundraisers you will find everything from Funnel Cakes to Donkey Tails! Great fun for your whole family, I promise!
