    Jump start your weekend with this amazing annual event. If you live in the Anderson Island Subdivision, many of us get to watch the show from our own back/front yards. Anderson Island is an affordable community at the foot of the Shreveport/Barksdale bridge in neighboring proximity to Shreve City Shopping Center.

    The Defender of Liberty Air Show runs (or flies) Saturday, April 30-May 1. This year's show features the Thunderbirds. Admission to the base is free. If you opt to go on base, vendors with great food and drinks will be on site. Water bottle filling stations will be located throughout the spectator area. Weather is predicted to be at a low of 67 degrees and a high of 82 with a 60% chance of rain, so bring umbrellas, just in case. Have fun and be safe!

    I am super excited to share with you the impending opening of a new eatery in Shreveport, and its location is Shreveport/Barksdale Highway, between Arby's and Ming Garden Restaurants. It's our very first Hey Man! Chicken Finger Restaurant. Touting their fresh, never frozen, chicken, beef, fish and veggies, Hey Man's Chicken Fingers will certainly to be a welcomed addition to our fair city.

    According to the owner/operator, the short answer to fresh, never frozen is because "it's the right thing to do". I'm certain you would agree, chicken and beef patties that are hard as a rock in the freezer are not going to taste the same as fresh, never frozen food. Unfortunately, fresh food is now the exception instead of the rule and equally as unfortunately it's a tad more costly, though presumed healthier. I, along with you, anxiously await to taste test.

    Magnolia School of Excellence (MSE) is a charter school located in close proximity to Anderson Island, Wright Island and Shreveport. Magnolia is a tuition-free public school of choice, but each charter school is governed independently. Unlike traditional public schools, each of our charter schools must demonstrate success, or it will lose its charter.

    Magnolia School of Excellence is a member of the Charter Schools USA family of schools serving Caddo and Bossier Parishes. CSUSA is one of the largest providers of charter school management services in our nation and manages both private and municipal charters for grades Pre-K through 12. Our locations expands to include 9th grade the fall of 2016. An enrollment session will be held on Tuesday, March 8, at MSE at 6:00 pm.
