    St Joseph's Academy is the preeminent Catholic school for girls in Baton Rouge. It has a long and rich history. The Congregation of St. Joseph of Medaille sent four sisters from France to the Baton Rouge area to help orphans. In 1868 a school was opened on Church Street downtown (now Fourth Street). St. Joseph's Academy moved from downtown to its current location in 1941.*
