  • I have been a resident of Baton Rouge for over a decade and can attest to the fact that it is a great place to raise a family. My family enjoys the opportunities for outdoor activities, in particular nice parks, the downtown area and LSU lakes. Being nestled between Cajun Country and New Orleans and located right off of I-10, make extended entertainment areas a hop and a skip away.

I recently worked as a Retirement Sales Counselor and had the privilege of working with many wonderful people considering Baton Rouge as their retirement destination. Many were longtime residents of the area and others were looking to locate near loved ones. Many of the same attributes that make Baton Rouge attractive to families also make it attractive to retirees. Winters are usually mild, the city has easy access to travel with its own airport and the New Orleans airport is a short drive away, and the housing market has remained strong. All in all, making Baton Rouge a great place for families and retirees alike.

Not only is it amazing to live in a city with its own zoo, but when that zoo puts on events like this, it's amazing - in all capital letters! The event this year takes place on October 2, 2015 from 6-10 pm. Friends of Baton Rouge host this super fun event which was so popular last year, they brought it back for a second time! Guests 21 years and older are invited for a night of beer, food, music, and more. You can sample craft beers and munch on delicious pub food while listening to the sounds of With Without. The event is rain or shine so come prepared and ready for a roaring good time! (Ok, sorry about that. Too corny, but I couldn't help myself)
