With the expansions happening in Ascension Parish, it is introducing the community to various new things, giving Ascension Parish a lot to offer. New shops, restaurants, communities and schools are developing making it easier for Ascension Parish residents to enjoy the convenience of having everything being so accessible to home. Ascension Parish is continually growing and has some of the top schools in the state. It is definitely a place to visit or even move to!

La Hwy 73 in Prairieville may be a mess right now. For the past 2 years, there's been a lot of work going on. Workers have actually made lots of progress in Ascension Parish. For years, the traffic on this main artery in northern Ascension Parish has been building as new developments increased along its corridor. One by one, large tracts of land were turned into subdivisions and the resulting increase in traffic made it almost impossible to get in and out of the subdivisions at peak traffic hours. This was not a good thing for future development in this area, although it is a very desirable place to live. In my opinion, this is "the place" to live in Ascension Parish. Baton Rouge is only 20 minutes away and in 45 minutes you can be in New Orleans, IF you could get out onto HWY 73.

A plan was developed to three lane HWY 73, two wide lanes of traffic with a turning lane in the middle. Not only that, but there would be a sewer trunk line placed under the road way that will lead to a new sewer treatment plant on the western side of the parish. This will rid the subdivisions of the little community treatment plants (smelly little buggars) in favor of a municipal system. LA Hwy 42, which is the other corridor of development across the top of the parish, was included in the plan. The same improvements will be incorporated into that highway as well.

Once these two projects are complete, the quality of life will be greatly improved in the Prairieville area. There will be easier access to homes/ business, better air quality, sewer efficiency and it could even increase property value. The Prairieville area will be an even "better place" to live.
