Camp Beauregard operated as a training and mobilization sector of the United States military forces. It opened as far back as World War I. It is located in Pineville, and provides training for the Louisiana National Guard. The base is a starting point for many who want a military career through the Louisiana National Guard. Its units are also responsible for emergency response for natural disasters as well as state and federal emergencies. Camp Beauregard was founded in 1917 and is one of the oldest training camps still in existence from World War I.

Pineville’s Ward 9 Sportsplex is Located at 3311 Donahue Ferry Road in Pineville, La The complex was established in 2005 and offers a 150-acre complex. The soccer, baseball, football and softball, fields are brightly lit and all open to youth and adult teams. Walking trails and bike paths are another feature Pineville’s Ward 9 Sportsplex has to offer.

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, Rapides Cemetery is known for being the oldest cemetery in Rapides Parish with its oldest grave dating back to 1809. Rapides Cemetery is located right off of the Red River in downtown Pineville and holds some remarkable stories. Famous people, politicians, every-day neighbors, even soldiers who fought in wars hundreds of years ago have been laid to rest here at Rapides Cemetery. Come spend an afternoon wandering around with the founders of Alexandria and even the man known as, “Father of LSU!”

Nestled between U.S. Highways 165-71 and the Red River, Fort Buhlow Lake and Recreation Area is a great place in Pineville for fishing, boating, racing, and many other recreational activities. Fort Buhlow Recreation Area includes a three-lane boat launch with a boat dock, picnicking areas, hike and biking trails, a lit ball field, two Frisbee golf courses, and much more! Buhlow Lake is known at times for being “The Fastest Lake in the USA” because of its flat, fast racecourse being surrounded by hills that catch the passing winds. With over 282 acres to race and partake in other fun water sports, it’s no wonder Fort Buhlow Lake and Recreation Area is such a popular rendezvous point in Central Louisiana.

Built in 1931, Pineville's Old Town Hall Museum at one point in time was the location for all of Pineville's city offices, such as the fire station, city court, jail, public library (when court wasn't in order of course), and mayor's office to just name a few. Now, it is the only museum in all of Louisiana that is dedicated to municipal government. Open just about every day, Old Town Hall Museum is another intriguing attraction central Louisiana has to offer.

Built in the late 1850’s and later restored to its original state in 2009, Mount Olivet Chapel is the oldest structure still standing here in Pineville with its cemetery being the second oldest of the area. If you take the time to walk through this historic cemetery, you’ll find names of some of the early pioneers and locals from that time. Mt. Olivet Chapel and Cemetery aren’t just historical sites, but also a pretty and peaceful place to spend an afternoon.

Located on Camp Beauregard in Pineville, the Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum was built to replicate WWII barracks and pay tribute to those men and women who were a part of our nation’s military forces in WWII, WWI, and earlier time periods. Open all during the week, the Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum will allow you a closer look into Central Louisiana’s military history with life size military vehicles, Maneuver’s era weapons, authentic uniforms, and much more! Come explore the exhibits and see what all it took to get us where we are today!

Located in downtown Pineville, along the banks of the Red River, Forts Randolph and Beulow State Historic Site includes a visitor’s center (with Civil War artifacts), an elevated boardwalk around both forts, an overlook of Bailey’s Dam, and even a field for Civil War re-enactments. For under $5 Wednesday-Sunday, come learn about Louisiana's role in the Civil War!

Spread across seven parishes and divided into five Ranger Districts, Kisatchie National Forest is over 600,000 acres of pure Central Louisiana beauty. The national forest includes Kincaid Recreation Area, Valentine Lake Recreation Area, and the Wild Azalea Trail and is open daily. Come test your tree knowledge, stroll through the recreation areas, or have a look at endangered species or geologic sites! Kisatchie National Forest is the place to get a genuine feel of Louisiana.
