    Recently, I had the opportunity to meet the police chief and some of the officers of the Greenwood Police Department. I was struck as to how friendly and knowledgeable they were. There definitely exists an open door policy in Greenwood, with its small town feel, and I thought it was impressive that anyone could stop by and talk to the chief at any time about any concern. It really reinforced how great the community Greenwood is.

    Heroes Run
    Calling all runners/walkers/wanna be's. Start warming up now. You have a little more than a month before the Heroes Run in downtown Shreveport, beginning at our Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, October 29, at 8:00 a.m. Gear up and sign up for the 10k, 5k, and 1k. This world-class racing event, sponsored by Brookshires and Super 1 food stores will benefit our first local responders and military heroes who put their lives on the line everyday in a concerted effort to keep us safe. Let's get off the couch and start moving again for a great cause.

    The El Karubah Shriners will hold its annual golf tournament Saturday, May 7, at Crooked Hollow in Greenwood. The event kicks off at 1:00 p.m. Admission for teams of four is $100 each.
    I encourage you to support this worthwhile event, as this organization gives back so much to our Shreveport-Bossier City community, especially through its sponsorship of The Shriner's Hospital For Children.

    Greenwood is a great community to live in. With most subdivisions only minutes away from the interstate, Greenwood would make a great home for anyone who works in Shreveport or East Texas. Greenwood has a clock shop, dollar store, pizza franchise, and a few other small businesses, giving it that small town feel. As a resident of Greenwood, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
