City Greens have multiple locations in New Orleans, but the one in Old Metairie is the best location, in my opinion. It has sitting on the inside and sitting in their side yard. The food is fresh and pretty fast. The Southwest wrap is my go-to.

Coast Roast is a local coffee shop that's been around for a few years, but brand new to Old Metairie. The storefront is pretty small, but somehow its charming. It's been my preferred coffee shop because it's so good and close to my house. My favorite drink is the chocolate covered espresso bean frozen drink. Their breakfast is tasty too.

Club Pilates is the best workout spot in Old Metairie. They have really great instructors. You can tell they are very experienced because their workout plans are well thought out and never rushed. Even though you are in a class full of other people, the instructors are very observant and will help you get the movement down if you get off track. The whole staff at Club Pilates is very friendly, and it's all around a very welcoming environment.

Winston's Pub & Patio is a great Old Metairie bar. It's right next to the train tracks. The drinks are good, a little pricer than other bars in the area, but you are paying extra for a bartender who actually knows how to make a cocktail. The inside seating is decent and definitely gives off the pub feel (hence the name). But I like sitting on the back patio best. Sometimes the train goes by, and that's an added bonus for me. You will see Winston's get packed from time to time, but it's usually a pretty chill bar to go too.

Parish Line is a cool new restaurant/bar spot in Old Metairie. It has a really cool vibe making it a great date night spot. The rooftop is super unique for Old Metairie, so as you can imagine, you have to get reservations for rooftop seating; at least on the weekends. The food and drinks are very good too. The tuna ceviche and street corn are my favorite apps.

Mama's Place is my favorite neighborhood bar! Nothing is better than sitting outside on a nice day, with a drink in hand. Their food is pretty good too. I recommend the chicken quesadillas and cheese fries. The staff is really nice and easy going. Drinks are pretty reasonable, which is great. They are also really respectful of the area, so the bar never really gets rowdy. As far as the crowd goes, it's just a bunch of people from the neighborhood all looking to have a good time. I could never picture myself moving away from this area, if it means I can't walk to Mama's anymore!

Nor Joe is an Italian grocery store off Metairie Rd. I always enjoy going there because they have good selections and the staff is super friendly. They are very enthusiastic when you get to talking to them about their products, and they usually offer to let customers sample the food. Nor Joe also has a deli, so you can order a sub and eat it there or to go! Their most popular sub is probably the Lindy...it truly is amazing! But my favorite is when they do the pasta cheese wheel Friday thru Sunday. I live in the area, so Nor Joe is always one of my preferred lunch spots.

Old Metairie was originally known as Tchoupitoulas and became home to upscale residences as early as the 1920's. Métairie is a French word describing a small farm where the landlord was paid in the form of a share of the crops. Come and visit this unique community!
