I met with a first time home buyer this morning at the Caddo Parish Courthouse. We went there to file for his homestead exemption and he was surprised that it was as simple and fast as I had assured him. We'd only been there less than 5 minutes and my next appointment was an hour or so away but in the vicinity. I decided to take a stroll up and down Texas Street, as I enjoy the sidewalk art there. Though I've seen it many times, I can always feel a renewed appreciation of a different aspect of it. That's when I wandered upon The Lofts @ 624. Appropriately named, it's actually located at 624 Texas Street! It's the historic and beautifully renovated Sears building. I knew it was coming but didn't know a lot about it.

Actually, it's a residential/commercial/retail property offering penthouses, lofts and studios. This will certainly be a game-changer for Downtown. The Lofts @ 625 will offer 50, market-rate apartments with 1,2 and 3 bedroom options. I saw that it does have some retail tenants but understand it's slated to open the Fall of 2015. That promises to be a very impressive corner in Shreveport!
